Telehealth Update

Ongoing healthcare needs are not suddenly put on hold because of a global health pandemic. Patients still need medication refills, ongoing checkups and specialists to help them address their overall wellness. Mountain View Hospital and its affiliated clinics are working hard to ensure we are still here to care for all of our patients.

We understand during this time of uncertainty, many Idahoans want to limit trips outside their home. This includes visits to the doctor’s office. While it is still safe to come and see us, we are responding to meet your needs. Mountain View Hospital is expanding its telehealth services, so you can connect with a doctor from the comfort of your home.

Our doctors are making telehealth easy for you to access. As long as you have a cell phone or a computer with a camera, we can conduct many of our appointments with you virtually. We have a secure platform we can use or, if it is easier for you, our doctors can conduct appointments using FaceTime, Skype or video conferencing platforms. We will work with each patient to determine what works best for them.

Telemedicine is great option for patients who need to speak with a doctor about medication refills, managing a chronic disease, seasonal allergies, wellness checks, mental health issues, initial consultations, follow up appointments and, of course, anyone who is in a higher risk category for COVID-19.

To try to help patients manage their healthcare needs during this pandemic, most major health insurance companies are covering the entire cost of telehealth appointments. Please check with your individual insurance company to determine the policy for your plan.

While telemedicine can be used for so many different appointments, if a doctor needs to collect a sample, take an x-ray, physically examine you or give you some type of injection, you would still need to come to the clinic.

If you would like to set up a telehealth appointment with your doctor, please call their office directly. If you have an appointment coming up, our team will confirm if you would like to come into the office or arrange a telehealth appointment instead. Together, you and your doctor can determine what makes the most sense for your healthcare needs.
